Per the newly implemented FAA requirement, an Air Boss Letter of Authorization is MANDATORY for issuance of 7711-2 Waivers, as of Jan 1, 2020.  

Jon Pawelkop is an FAA “Recognized Air Boss,” and holds a Letter of Authorization dated Jan 1, 2023. This authorizes him to serve as Air Boss at ANY airshow, at ANY level of complexity.

This new requirement raises the bar for Air Bosses, and for Air Shows, and reinforces the SAFETY FIRST mindset that is the first and foremost commitment of all within the industry. 

FAA and ICAS began issuing Letters of Authorization in April, 2019.  Jon was among the first to receive the certification, having worked proactively to accomplish the many tasks to qualify for this rating.
